2016-2017 Opportunities
The PTO is vital to Lakeshore Elementary in continuing the quest for an excellent public education for our children. We would not be able to provide all the amazing opportunities for the students without our many volunteers. Such opportunities also require leadership in the forms of both a PTO “Executive Board” and PTO Committee Chairs.
This school year the PTO has been trying to foresee openings for the 2016-2017 school year. We have had great success in finding parents to “shadow” current Committee Chairs this year and allow for a comfortable transition. We have found that the “shadow” system allows parents to see if the event is something they would enjoy and if it works with their schedule.
We also need a great leadership team in place to help oversee all the general operations of the PTO. We have always strived to make the “Executive Board” a team effort to allow parents to take on roles that they are comfortable with and that fit their skill set. We are continuing our initiative and want to have “shadows” in place to help ease parents into these roles and to make it less daunting. Without this team, the PTO will not be able to continue.
Please consider coming to a meeting, listening, voicing your opinion, and joining in the conversation. The following is a list of the positions that make up our “Executive Board”. The positions of Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer will be open next school year. We have all enjoyed our time serving you and Lakeshore, but our children are moving on to the next stage in their education and we need other families to take on these roles. Again, without the continued support of Lakeshore Families, the PTO will not be able to continue. If you are interested in one of the positions, please come to the January (Tuesday, January 19th) or February (Tuesday, February 23rd) meetings. The meetings are held at 4pm in the Lakeshore Media Center. If you are unable to attend one of these meetings, please contact one of the current team members to discuss the positions. We need you.
