Open House Wednesday, August 31st
Kindergarten Welcome Note
Hello Kindergarten families! We hope your child is getting excited about Kindergarten. We are excited to be a part of such a huge milestone in your child’s education. As parents, we know that there are all kinds of feelings that surround sending your child to kindergarten. Rest assured that the staff at Lakeshore is very caring and Principal Steinbarth is very approachable and responsive to any needs.
We wanted to inform you all of a couple of things that might help you with the transition into school. 1. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to any of the PTO members listed below. We are more than happy to help.
2. The school supply lists are out at the stores. You also can find a copy at fonddulac.k12.wi.us, just click the schools tab and then Lakeshore Elementary. The school supply list is towards the bottom. 3. The school’s PTO calendar is out as well (you will receive a copy at Open House). The calendar has most of the school wide events on it for the upcoming school year. If you would like to look at it beforehand, you can access it at www.lakeshorepto.org and click the calendar tab and the top or side of the page. 4. Wednesday, August 31 is a very important date. It is Lakeshore Elementary’s Back to School Open House. The classroom lists will be posted at 12pm on the front doors of the school. The cafeteria will open at 3:30 with the classrooms opening at 4:30. In the cafeteria you will be able to put money into your child’s lunch account, sign up for fall conferences, see a sneak peek at the PTO fall fundraiser or opt to “buyout” for the fundraiser, set up an account/ get information about Scrip, order a school directory, sign up to help during the first 3 weeks of school with lunchtime, and preview Spirit Wear. Starting at 4:30 you can go into your child’s classroom to meet the teacher, drop off supplies, pay school fees and sign up to be a room parent. 5. We are also very fortunate to have our First Annual Lakeshore Obstacle Course Challenge for families, Summit Drive for Kids, and Scholastic Book Fair at the school on September 17 from 9:00-1:00. This is a great opportunity for our school to raise money for technology, classroom/playground supplies and the other wonderful events we have at our school. Summit will donate $20/ test driver to our school. There is no salesperson trying to sell you a car. You sign a waiver, drive to the high school and back and the school get’s $20. After you drive, you will even receive a $5 gift certificate you can use at the Scholastic Book Fair! It is that easy. Everyone over the age of 18 with a valid driver’s license can test drive. There can be more than one driver per household and friends/family members can participate! Our goal is to have at least 150 test drives. 6. The first 3 weeks of school can be challenging for Kindergartners and older kids as well in the lunchroom. Every year we have parent volunteers that come and help out when they are able to during lunchtime. If you are interested in signing up to help supervise lunches, please sign up for available time at this link Lunch Helpers Sign Up If you need like more information, email Nicole Kamphuis at (nmkamphuis@hotmail.com) 7. Remember to sign up for email alerts of Lakeshore activities at Lakeshorepto.org. You can also “like” the PTO’s Facebook page “Lakeshore Elementary PTO” to get up to date alerts and reminders.
We hope that you all have a wonderful school year and a great rest of your summer! Lakeshore PTO
